Gov. JB Pritzker warned the state cannot fill cuts to the United States’ signature food assistance program under the “Big Beautiful Bill” that President Donald Trump has signed into law.

Changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP and once known as food stamps, will slash benefits for more than 360,000 low-income residents across Illinois, Pritzker’s office said Monday.
