TOP STORIES FOR MARCH 20

  • Former President Donald Trump said he expects to be arrested on Tuesday, sparking reactions from across the spectrum. He didn't specify why, but the speculation is reportedly tied to a potential indictment over "hush money" payments to ex-porn actress Stormy Daniels.

  • Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow to kick off a 3-day summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. An op-ed from Putin published Sunday said "The Russia-China relations have reached the highest level in their history."

  • House Republicans are probing China-linked payments to members of the Biden family, and whether there is a "national security threat." A spokesperson for Hunter Biden’s legal team called the probe a "baseless right-wing conspiracy."

  • UBS, Switzerland’s biggest bank, agreed to buy its rival Credit Suisse in a $3.1 billion emergency rescue deal. The purchase is reportedly aimed at easing financial market panic after two other U.S. banks collapsed earlier this month.

  • A new analysis by an international group of researchers found evidence that COVID-19 originated from infected animals sold at a market in Wuhan, China. The report follows the Energy Department announcing last month that it now thinks a lab leak was likely the origin of the pandemic.

DESANTIS, CONSERVATIVES SHOW DIVIDES ON UKRAINE

Florida Gov. and potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis isn't convinced that the U.S. should continue getting involved with the Russia-Ukraine war.

In response to a questionnaire from Tucker Carlson, DeSantis stated that “becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia” was not a vital national interest for the U.S.

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board argued DeSantis was trying to appeal to Donald Trump’s base, warning that “the Governor may want to consider that the political risks on foreign policy aren’t only from the Trumpian right.”
