Voters Recall California Judge Who Presided Over Brock Turner Rape Case

Residents of Santa Clara, California voted to recall Judge Aaron Persky, who controversially sentenced Stanford student Brock Turner to six months in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. While some celebrated the decision, many on both sides of the aisle have argued that it is a setback for criminal justice, as it will encourage judges to impose harsher sentences on all defendants for fear of public backlash.
