Trump Rescinds Secret Service Protection For Kamala Harris

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection will be revoked by President Donald Trump on September 1.

The Details: According to a spokesperson and a letter obtained by CNN (Lean Left bias), there was no reason cited for the removal of protections. The removal of protections not only consists of agents assigned around the clock but also includes analysis of threat intelligence and monitoring of emails, texts, and social media.

 For Context: Former presidents receive life-long protection; however, former vice presidents only receive 6 months of protection upon leaving office. Harris’ 6-month period of protection would have ended on July 21, but an undisclosed directive signed by former President Joe Biden extended the protection for an additional year. The extension of Secret Service protection is what Trump is ending. The end of Harris’ protections comes just before she is to embark on a book tour for her memoir, ‘107 Days.’

How The Media Covered It: CNN and Newsweek (Center) highlighted the upcoming book tour, noting that questions are being raised over federal, state, and local responsibilities for her security. CNN also highlighted the removal of protections without citing a reason for it.
