Previewing Joe Biden's Inauguration

President-elect Joe Biden is scheduled to be sworn in as the 46th President of the Untied States Wednesday in an inauguration ceremony beginning around 11 a.m. ET. He and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will take the oath shortly after noon ET; Chief Justice John Roberts will swear in Biden, and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will swear in Harris. President Donald Trump will not attend, making him the first outgoing president to miss the ceremony since 1869. Vice President Mike Pence will attend, as will former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton. Tuesday being President Donald Trump's final full day in office also received prominent coverage; some reports speculated about potential pardons Trump could issue, and others concentrated on Sen. Mitch McConnell saying Trump provoked the breach of the U.S. Capitol building.
