AG Barr Has No Plan To Appoint Special Counsel on Hunter Biden, Election Fraud

Attorney General William Barr said on Monday that there was no need to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden’s finances or claims of election fraud. “I have not seen a reason to appoint a special counsel and I have no plan to do so before I leave,” Barr said. Hunter Biden’s taxes and business dealings are currently being investigated by the IRS and the FBI. President Donald Trump announced on Dec. 14 that Barr would step down the following week. Barr’s remarks came at a press conference announcing charges against a man involved in the 1988 Lockerbie flight bombing. Barr also said he agreed with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that “it certainly appears” that Russia was behind the SolarWinds cyberattack. Coverage in some left-rated outlets framed Barr’s remarks as a rebuke of Trump and his election fraud narrative. Some reports from right-rated outlets focused on the Hunter Biden investigation and said Barr “rejected” special counsels.
