Comer Requests More Unredacted Emails on Hunter Biden

House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-KY) asked the National Archives for more unredacted emails regarding Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings.

The Details: According to multiple sources, the requested Dec. 2015 emails show that Hunter Biden business associate Eric Schwerin sent then-Vice President Joe Biden's spokesperson Kate Bedingfield responses to use for media inquiries about Hunter's involvment with Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company. The New York Times (Lean Left bias) published a story days later on whether Hunter's presence on Burisma's board undercut Joe Biden's diplomacy efforts in Ukraine.

Key Quotes: "Suspiciously, Hunter Biden’s associate had a media statement on Burisma approved by Vice President Biden himself the same day Hunter Biden ‘called D.C.’ for help with the government pressure facing Burisma," Comer said. "If it’s a day that ends in Y, James Comer is lying about President Biden," a White House spokesperson said in response.

For Context: President Biden maintains he had no connection to his son's foreign business relations; many on the right say there's mounting evidence to the contrary.

Some right-rated sources suggested that Schwerin fed Biden's office quotes to use about Hunter and Burisma, and that Bedingfield's response of "VP signed off on this" implied that Joe Biden approved them. Conversely, The Hill (Center bias) suggested Bedingfield's response was "an apparent reference to her statement rather than Schwerin’s, which Comer’s letter did not make clear."
