Trump-Backed Candidate Wins Maryland GOP Gubernatorial Primary

Democrats have meddled in 2022 races with the hopes of elevating Trump-backed candidates who they believe are sure to lose in November's general elections.
Maryland's 2022 primary results were covered prominently across the political spectrum. Differences in reports about Cox's win reflected the divides over the 2020 presidential election results. CNN described Cox as "an election denier who has taken a series of hard-line conservative positions." Fox News described him as a "a strong supporter of Trump’s constant re-litigation of the 2020 election."
