'Wind therapy': Motorcycles aiding wounded vets with PTSD

Ahead of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a group of veterans is beginning a motorcycle road trip Monday that will take them to historic sites tied to the tragedy.

Rolling Project Odyssey has been taking wounded veterans on rides sponsored by Harley-Davidson since 2015. According to a release, the riding experience "aims to support warriors in their recoveries from invisible wounds of war."

The four-day ride is part of the Wounded Warrior Project's longer, 12-week Project Odyssey program, which focuses on mental health and recovery through "adventure-based learning" and experiences. The ride portion allows veterans to reap the benefits of "wind therapy" experienced with intense focus on the open road and build camaraderie, coping skills and avenues for PTSD support.
