Billionaire MacKenzie Scott has donated more than $740 million to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) this year.

Most recently, Scott donated $40 million to Norfolk State University in Virginia, $63 million to Prairie View A&M University in Texas and $50 million to Bowie State University in Maryland, according to the universities. Scott first donated to these institutions – and others – in 2020. Her second round of donations to these three educational institutions prove to be the largest they've received throughout their respective histories.
