Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for defense secretary, met with senators on Capitol Hill on Thursday as new details emerged about an alleged sexual assault that took place in 2017.
Hegseth was accompanied in his meetings by Vice President-elect JD Vance, an Ohio senator, as they seek to secure support among Republican senators for the former Fox News host's expected nomination. Trump selected the 44-year-old Army veteran โ who served in Iraq and Afghanistan โ last week, citing his military experience and calling him a "Warrior for the Troops."
