Police Clash With at Least 150 Pro-Palestinian Protesters at DNC Headquarters in Washington

Pro-Palestinian protesters calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas War clashed with U.S. Capitol Police officers on Wednesday outside Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C.

According to the police, approximately 150 people were "illegally and violently protesting" as officers made arrests and worked on evacuating them from the area.

A number of videos at the event showed police and protesters in a violent shoving match. There were some reports by those on the ground that pepper spray may have been used by police to disperse the crowd.

Video of the event on social media shows an activist accusing the Democratic Party of claiming "to be on the side of life, and peace, and equality" but not calling for a ceasefire and end to the war.

Rep. Brad Sherman said he was evacuated from the building after protesters "grew violent" and were "attempting to break into the building."
