“A very large portion of my party,” Republican Sen. Mitt Romney told his biographer, “really don’t believe in the Constitution.”
Romney didn’t name names, but some leap to mind. Donald Trump, for one. Gov. Ron DeSantis, for another.
DeSantis is the man of the moment in that regard, once again flaunting his contempt for the First Amendment.
The governor’s order to shut down Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which reportedly has chapters in at least two Florida universities, is wrong on its face. The anti-Israel students are wrong, and they preach hate when they parrot the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
