Volunteers to search for former East Hartford police officer presumed dead in Bahamas

EAST HARTFORD — A fundraiser to bring home a former police officer who never surfaced while free diving in the Bahamas is approaching its goal.
The GoFundMe fundraiser, set up by East Hartford Police Officer Shelby Morin, raised more than $48,000 of its $60,000 goal by 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Its purpose is to fly a team of volunteer divers to the Bahamas and head to the Bimini Barge Wreck, where Ryan Proulx was last seen diving without breathing apparatus around 6 p.m. Friday.
