Dysfunctional Massachusetts Republican Party at it again
Politics,2022 Elections,Massachusetts,2022 Massachusetts Gubernatorial Election
Cheating. Lying. Scandalous behavior.
If that sounds like the latest plot of “The Bachelor,” it’s not. It’s actually the latest saga in the Massachusetts Republican Party.
The ever-shrinking state GOP is engaging in a dangerous shooting game — with the two candidates for governor, Geoff Diehl and Chris Doughty, now firing wild charges of scandal, wrongdoing, and desperation tactics.
The party is acting more like a dysfunctional family than a political force, hurting its ability to win an important election at stake.
“Diehl orchestrates worst cheating scandal in history of Massachusetts Republican Party,” blared a press release from Doughty. “If this was a sporting event, Geoff Diehl would be disqualified from competing.”
I’ll spare you the details of this ridiculous back and forth but the controversy involves the selection of delegates to the party’s nominating convention. Yeah, it’s just that scandalous.
