President Joe Biden gave a speech in Georgia on Tuesday urging Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, stating that he was "tired of being quiet" when it comes to voter legislation.

The president, along with Vice President Kamala Harris, spoke on the grounds of Morehouse College, a historically African-American university, and emphasized the importance of getting the bill passed.

Despite some pushback from Democratic lawmakers who feared the speech would be merely a sleight of talking points, Biden went forward and urged the Senate to pass a bill that he said would help "protect our democracy."

The Freedom to Vote Act, if passed, would enact a series of steps to help end voter suppression throughout the country—particularly in a number of Republican states where restrictive voter laws were passed in 2021.
