The Renee Good Shooting

On Wednesday January 7, an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Around 2,000 ICE agents had deployed to Minneapolis following an investigation into fraud involving Somali immigrants. Renee Good was involved in an ICE Watch group and blocked the road officers were on. Following an altercation between her and the officers, she reversed her car and drove forward, which is when the officer, since identified as Johnathan Ross, opened fire on her. Several outlets have reported that Ross suffered internal bleeding from the incident.

Despite videos of the shooting from multipleangles, there is little agreement on what actually happened in Minneapolis. Many on the left see Good as being senselessly murdered while trying to get away from the situation. Others on the right say she was trying to run the officer over and he was acting in self-defense. Some have compared the shooting to George Floyd’s killing in 2020, which happened less than a mile away from the Good shooting.

The Minnesota Star Tribune (Lean Left bias)featured a column arguing, “U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen has torched that reputation and unforgivably betrayed Minnesotans seeking a full and fair investigation into a federal agent’s fatal shooting of Renee Good on Jan. 7. When Rosen allowed the FBI to assume full control of the investigation and barred the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators from the process, he turned his back on the state…

It’s impossible now to see the FBI under Patel’s leadership arriving at an evidence-based conclusion that undermines the White House’s narrative blaming the death on Good and the activism of her spouse, Becca Good…The reckless words of Trump and his allies, including Rosen, have turned Minnesota streets into a powder keg.”

New York Post Opinion (Right) writer said, “Leftist organizations train activists like the Goods to harass and interfere with law enforcement in a variety of ways, including by using vehicles to block their movements. This ‘activism’ is not only in support of illegal activity, it creates dangerous situations for law-enforcement officers, bystanders and the activists themselves, as Renee Good sadly discovered…

The only way to prevent more deaths like Renee Good’s — and more mayhem like that unleashed by the exploitation of George Floyd’s killing — is to stop giving in to activists who think they have a right to resist and obstruct law enforcement.”

An AlterNet (Left) piece said, “There’s something we need to talk about before talking about anything else related to Renee Nicole Good’s murder. The likelihood of convicting her killer is very low.

No matter how damning you may think the video evidence is – and it is damning – Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer who shot Renee Nicole Good in the face, is still a cop…The most important thing right now is gathering and disseminating video evidence of abuses of power by ICE for the purpose of discrediting not only Trump but all federal authorities…

My point is expanding the idea of accountability so that failure in one area doesn’t seem like failure everywhere. Obviously, it would be better if Renee Nicole Good were alive, but in death, she might finally show people who didn’t believe it, or were focused on their wallets, that Trump is an evil man, and that other evil men are drawn to him.”

A piece in the American Spectator (Right) concluded, “If state criminal charges are brought against the agent, the prosecutors will find themselves in a decidedly different legal arena than the Hennepin County court that presided over the shameful George Floyd case…

In short, until the issue of the Supremacy Clause immunity is resolved, a federal agent will not be subjected to trial. There is no question that the agent who shot Good is entitled to Supremacy Clause immunity. Consequently, any criminal charge by the Minnesota authorities would be legally futile. But don’t expect this reality to dissuade the Minnesota crooks from doing all in their power — legal or otherwise — to preserve, protect, and defend their illegal alien voting bloc from being dismantled and deported.”
