Thousands of Americans are joining together April 17-23, 2023 to participate in the 6th annual National Week of Conversation.

The National Week of Conversation, or NWOC, invites Americans to attend events held by hundreds of organizations in an effort to help bridge the divide between different perspectives in the United States. NWOC is powered by the #ListenFirst Coalition of 500+ organizations, of which AllSides is a proud partner. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to and engage with diverse perspectives about pressing issues affecting the country today.

“People are craving peace in their families, calm in their communities, and unity in our country. National Week of Conversation is an invitation for Americans of goodwill from all backgrounds and beliefs to rise above and take a first step from pain and fear toward hope, pride, and strength,” said Pearce Godwin, the CEO of Listen First Project, in a press release.

There will be several sectors that events are being held around: Education (K-12 and Higher Education), Faith Communities, Elected Officials, the Media, and more.

With political polarization hitting new extremes, AllSides is highlighting stories on efforts to bridge the divide and find common ground. Make sure to check out blogs related to NWOC that AllSides will be posting from our partners this week.

NWOC is integral to AllSides’ mission to “free people from filter bubbles so they can better understand the world — and each other.” Read more about AllSides’commitment to civil discourse and bridging divides.
