Could We See Nikki Haley Run For President as the ‘No Labels’ Candidate?
Summary from the AllSides News Team
Bipartisan political group No Labels still has not named a presidential candidate, despite having raised significant funds, drawing media perspectives.
Discontented Donors: Politico (Lean Left bias) spoke to several No Labels donors and others close to the organization, several of whom expressed discontent with the organization’s recent process. Without a candidate named, Politico concluded the door is ultimately open for GOP hopeful Nikki Haley, but that it “could be a longshot.”
Haley’s Broad Appeal: Juan Williams (Lean Left bias) writing for The Hill (Center bias) said Haley is the “number one prospect” for No Labels’ presidential candidate. Williams cited comments from No Labels’ political director, Joe Cunningham, where he said Haley has “broad appeal to independents, Democrats, Republicans” and how she has distanced herself from Trump-Republicans as reasons she could make sense to run as No Labels’ pick.
She’s A Republican: Jim Geraghty (Lean Right bias) of National Review (Lean Right bias) highlighted Haley’s recent denial of the possiblity of running as No Labels’ candidate, because she does not want to share the ticket with a Democratic vice presidential candidate. Geraghty also noted Cunningham’s recent comments, but concluded that amidst an “unusual” presidential race, “we shouldn’t be surprised” by “an unusual challenger.”

This morning, in a chat with reporters at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, Nikki Haley gave her most emphatic rejection of the option of running as the presidential candidate of the organization No Labels.
“If I were to do No Labels, that would require a Democratic vice president. I can’t do what I want to do as president with a Democratic vice president,” Haley said. “I want to shrink the size of government and get it efficient again. I want to make sure that we get our kids reading again...

It is over. There is no longer any way Nikki Haley can win enough delegates on Super Tuesday GOP primaries to win the GOP nomination.
But her name might still be on your November ballot as the presidential candidate of the No Labels party.
This Friday, No Labels will hold a virtual convention to find a candidate for November. Haley is the number one prospect.
Joe Cunningham, a former Democratic congressman and the 2022 nominee for South Carolina governor, is now the political director of No Labels. He recently said that Haley...

Donors to No Labels are starting to fear that the third-party group missed its window for launching a much-hyped presidential bid and are questioning whether to make future financial commitments to the organization.
Those fears have intensified after two high-profile No Labels candidate targets — former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, and West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat — passed on the chance to run for president, and as the party’s planned April presidential nominating convention approaches without a clear ticket in place.
