Trump Rolls Out 'Platinum Plan' for Black Communities

On Friday, President Donald Trump rolled out his Platinum Plan, which designates $500 billion for black communities and entrepreneurs to increase capital access and promises to open 500,000 new black businesses and 3 million jobs for black Americans. The plan also recognizes Juneteenth as an official holiday, and promises to “prosecute the KKK and ANTIFA as terrorist organizations and make lynching a national hate crime.” It also includes provisions for education and religious organizations in black communities; the president will also work on a Second Step Act and a National Clemency Program, though little detail is provided. In a speech on Friday at the “Black Voices for Trump” rally in the unexpected battleground state of Georgia, Trump told the audience that Democrats "take the black vote for granted," before stating, “I did more for the Black community in 47 months than Joe Biden did in 47 years." Coverage from right-rated outlets tended to focus on the details of the Platinum Plan. Some left- and center-rated outlets tended to frame the story as Trump's effort to gain black voters; several left-rated reports also left out details of Trump's plan, such as the terrorist designations and the Second Step Act.
