Minneapolis Schools Introduce Race-Based Layoff Policy

A Minneapolis Public Schools' contract with a teachers union introduces a policy that strengthens "educators of color protections" during layoffs.

The new contract states that teachers will be subject to layoffs or job changes in "order of seniority" unless the teacher is part of an "underrepresented group."
