Previewing Biden's Speech to Congress

On Wednesday night, President Joe Biden plans to unveil a $1.8 trillion "American Families Plan" aimed at buoying families during his address to a joint session of Congress. The package proposes social welfare investments over a decade, in addition to $800 billion in tax benefits, which Biden will say can be paid for over 15 years. While Democrats may be pleased with much of the plan's contents, its price tag may raise some concern. Republicans are already opposed to the cost of Biden's $2.25 trillion infrastructure package. Biden will make his case before a pared-down gathering of mask-wearing legislators due to coronavirus restrictions.
