Israel Kills 5 Men Posing as Aid Workers in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it killed “five armed terrorists” posing as humanitarian aid workers in central Gaza last week.

The Details: The IDF released a video showing men in fluorescent vests, some visibly armed, standing around a vehicle with the logo of the US-based nonprofit World Central Kitchen (WCK). Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said the WCK confirmed in real time that the vehicle was not one of theirs. The IDF said it remains unclear which group the men killed were affiliated with.

Key Quotes: An Israeli military official told reporters, “We were able to verify in real time with the WCK that this, in fact, is not related to their organization, and is, in fact, a fake vehicle… We waited for them to get out of the car, and then we went forward and eliminated those armed men who were near our troops.” The WCK said in a statement, “We strongly condemn anyone posing as World Central Kitchen or other humanitarians, as this endangers civilians and aid workers.”

Accusations of Veiled Threats: Several times throughout its campaign in Gaza, Israel has struck targets it’s accused of inconspicuously posing a threat to its forces before. On Sunday, it struck and killed five Al Jazeera (Lean Left bias) journalists, one of whom it said was a Hamas operative. In April, it bombed a hospital it said was functioning as a Hamas “control center.” In March, it killed 15 medics, six of whom it said were Hamas operatives.

Other Aid-Related Incidents: On Wednesday, Associated Press (Left) reported Israel killed “at least 25 people seeking aid.” In July, Israel killed 10 Gazans collecting water at an aid site and blamed a “technical malfunction.” In March 2024, Hamas blamed Israel for the deaths of 20 Gazans who were waiting to collect aid, but Israel denied it and blamed “Palestinian gunmen.”
