How Can Lasting Peace Come to Gaza?

Summary from the AllSides News Team

How will lasting peace be accomplished in the region following the war between Hamas and Israel?

Reeducation Is A Necessity: Edward Topol, writing an opinion for American Thinker (Right bias), asserted that amongst the “rosy plans” of President Donald Trump for “reconciliation and lasting harmony for Israel and all the peoples” lies Hamas’ worldview and religion. This, Topol stated, remains “in the blood and minds of every single one of the Strip’s two or one and a half million inhabitants” as for years, Gazans “lived in paradise” being supplied by Israel with all the necessities for life and flourishing while “produc[ing] nothing but children for Jihad.” Topol asked what the “future American-Arab rulers of the strip” should do to rid the “ideology of terror” from the region. Topol compared the solution to the civilians of Nazi Germany following World War II, which only authorized aid after visiting a concentration camp and either reburying murdered Jews or watching a film shot in a Nazi concentration camp for hours, saying, “the main idea of this method can be applied to Gaza. “I imagine that the functioning Arabs of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates would be delighted to reeducate and ‘cure’ not only all the ‘Palestinians’ in Gaza, but also all the Houthis and Iranian ayatollahs.

Palestinian Sovereignty Is A Necessity: Opinion writers for Al Jazeera (Lean Left) said that while “Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan offers some constructive proposals on hostages, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction,” it is “marred by an unmistakable colonial framework.”  The framework imposed by Trump means “Gaza is to be overseen by Trump himself,” along with others, “cast as trustees for Palestinian governance, while Palestinian statehood is deferred indefinitely.” The authors asserted that “this logic is not new,” and “repeats the century-long Anglo-American approach to Palestine.” The authors proposed their own 20-point peace plan, eliminating “the colonial scaffolding” and “addressing the central issue: Palestinian statehood.” Furthermore, according to the authors, their plan “aligns with international law,” considering the “2024 ruling of the International Court of Justice, the recent resolution of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and the recognition of Palestine by 157 countries around the world.” The only thing that “will bring lasting peace,” according to the authors, is “practical steps that implement Palestinian sovereignty and statehood.”

Opinion

As far as I understand, the real reason for the gathering of the Arab super-rich in Sharm el-Sheikh is their urgent need for Israeli and American air defense systems, as well as our advanced military and civilian technologies. But two years of Israel’s war with Hamas completely deprived them of access to these systems, as the honor of the Muslim uniform demanded that they side with their so-called “Palestinian brothers.” As a result, Hamas has become a thorn in their side, preventing them from acquiring the coveted weapons of defense...

Opinion

United States President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan offers some constructive proposals on hostages, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction. Yet it is marred by an unmistakable colonial framework: Gaza is to be overseen by Trump himself, with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and other outsiders cast as trustees for Palestinian governance, while Palestinian statehood is deferred indefinitely.
