McConnell Recognizes Biden as President-Elect

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recognized Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as president-elect and vice president-elect for the first time on Tuesday, following Monday’s confirmation of the 2020 presidential election by the Electoral College. “The Electoral College has spoken. So today, I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden,” McConnell said. McConnell also said Biden “is no stranger to the Senate. He’s devoted himself to public service for many years.” Depending on the results of the Georgia Senate runoffs, Biden’s relationship with McConnell will likely be a key factor in the success of Biden’s agenda.
