Biden's Approval Rating Continues Downward Trend

As of October 19, Gallup's (Center bias) public opinion poll had Biden's approval rate at 42%. The dip occurred amid a slowdown in the job market due to the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain problems, the struggle to evacuate Americans and Afghan allies from Afghanistan, and a holdup of Biden's domestic agenda in Congress. The polls suggest that Democrats and independents are driving the declining economic confidence, giving Republicans some momentum heading into the 2022 midterm elections. Democrats hope that passing the core parts of Biden's Build Back Better agenda will appeal to voters next November.
