Viral Edited Video of Trump Flagged as Misinformation on Twitter

Summary from the AllSides News Team

On Sunday evening, an edited clip of President Donald Trump went viral on social media. The 12-second clip, edited out of a 2019 C-SPAN interview with Trump, showed the president walking to a helicopter before stopping to point to a puddle on the ground outside of the White House. Some Twitter users tweeted the video along with comments that Trump looked "confused" and "disoriented." "Trump was simply walking back to wait for FLOTUS here," ABC reporter Will Steakin pointed out in a tweet. "This false tweet has over 23K retweets and the deceptively edited video has over 2 million views." On Monday, Twitter added a "manipulated media" tag to the video, and it was apparently taken down shortly after. Voices from all sides of the political spectrum condemned the tweet as misinformation, calling it a "disservice to voters" when either side spreads false claims or misleading information.
