Biden to Debate Trump Despite Pelosi's Calls to Cancel

Joe Biden said Thursday he won't skip the upcoming presidential debates with President Donald Trump after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters earlier that day she thought the debates should be canceled. Pelosi cited Trump's 2016 presidential debates, and said that she did not think Trump had "comported himself in a way that has any association with truth, evidence, data and facts." Shortly after, Biden confirmed in an interview with MSNBC that he would debate Trump, saying he would use the debates as an opportunity to be a “fact checker on the floor." Pelosi later told MSNBC later Thursday that her comments have nothing to do with Biden, and that Biden is "a great debater." Some voices from the right framed Pelosi's comments as evidence that the left has little faith in Biden's ability to successfully debate Trump; many voices from the right think that the debates can give Trump an advantage in the election. Left-rated outlets focused more on Pelosi saying that she thought the debates as a whole should be canceled, and on Biden's comments.
