FBI Says 244 Arrested in North Texas Child Exploitation Sting

The Details: Over 70 Texas law enforcement agencies collaborated with federal entities on this to identify victims, seize digital evidence, and disrupt online predatory networks. Authorities confiscated 1,130 digital devices and more than 213 terabytes of data, which is currently undergoing forensic analysis and is expected to lead to further arrests and the identification of more victims. Many of the rescued children were previously unknown to authorities.

Texas law enforcement agencies rescued 109 children and arrested 244 suspected offenders in a large-scale operation targeting online child exploitation, said the FBI.

A monthlong investigation in Texas snared 244 alleged online child-sex predators, the FBI and other agencies announced at a June 10 news conference in Dallas.

“We’re taking them off the street and not stopping,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote in a social media post.

The FBI Dallas office’s special agent in charge, R. Joseph Rothrock, told reporters that a common goal united more than 70 federal, state, and local agencies: “to rescue children from abuse and exploitation.”
