Biden Receives COVID-19 Vaccine

President-elect Joe Biden received the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine in a televised appearance Monday afternoon. Biden received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech two-shot vaccine at a Delaware hospital, where he was joined by incoming First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, who received a vaccine dose earlier in the day. The Bidens' inoculation comes after Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines began distribution last week. Biden, who said he was getting vaccinated to "demonstrate... there's nothing to worry about" regarding the vaccine, also gave President Donald Trump’s administration some credit for "getting this off the ground with Operation Warp Speed.” Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is reportedly expected to receive vaccination next week as part of preparation for the upcoming administration. The story received wide coverage from outlets across the political spectrum. Some right-rated outlets highlighted Biden's remarks crediting Operation Warp Speed, while some coverage from the left highlighted other leaders who were vaccinated, such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
