President Trump said he has ordered the Navy to "shoot and kill any boat" laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, as the U.S. and Iran jostle for control of the vital waterway.
Trump's comments on Truth Social came after U.S. forces said they had intercepted two more Iran-linked vessels in the Indian Ocean, boarding one and escorting the other, as part of efforts to enforce their naval blockade.
The Defense Department released footage of troops stepping from helicopters onto the Majestic X, which it described as a sanctioned, stateless vessel carrying Iranian oil. Earlier, the U.S. military said the Iranian oil tanker Dorena had tried to violate the blockade and was under escort by a Navy destroyer.
