A Chicago alderman says the city's sanctuary policies may have contributed to the fatal shooting of a college student who was fatally shot on the lakefront last week.

Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old student at Loyola University, was killed Thursday in the city's Rogers Park neighborhood while walking with friends. Police on Sunday announced Jose Medina-Medina, 25, was charged with first-degree murder and other offenses.
