The suspect in the mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, British Columbia, has been identified as Jesse Van Rootselaar, an 18-year-old trans woman.

Rootselaar, who was biologically male at birth and later identified as female, had a license for their gun, RCMP Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said, but that it had expired in 2024. The victims of the shooting include Rootselaar's mother and step-brother...
