Denmark Deploys Advance Troops as Trump Threatens Takeover

NATO ally Denmark has deployed a light detachment of advance troops and fresh military equipment to Greenland to prepare the ground for the arrival of a larger number of forces, the Danish national broadcaster reported, as U.S. President Donald Trump makes clear that he intends to take control of the Arctic island from Copenhagen.

"The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security," Trump posted to his Truth Social account on Wednesday morning. "It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building. NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON'T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!"
