House Democrats will block motion to remove Speaker Johnson

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced Tuesday that House Democrats will block Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s effort to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson.

“We will vote to table Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed,” Jeffries said in a statement.

Greene, R-Ga., introduced the motion to vacate, as it’s known, last month. However, she had thus far declined to force a vote on the resolution.
