IDF Fires Senior Officers After Deadly Strike On Aid Workers As It Blames “Mistaken Identification”

Israel has fired two senior military officers involved in the deadly strikes that claimed the lives of seven food aid workers in Gaza earlier this week, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement Friday, claiming a case of mistaken identity as international outrage over Israel’s conduct in the war continues to grow and frustration mounts with country’s closest ally, the United States.

The IDF said it had dismissed two senior officers—the brigade fire support commander and the brigade chief of staff, respectively officers with the ranks of major and colonel in reserve—from their positions after a probe into the attack revealed serious violations of standard operating procedures.
