Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed a joint session of Congress on December 21 as part of his visit to Washington DC, during which he also met president Joe Biden and other members of his administration.

Addresses by foreign leaders to the US legislative chambers are extremely rare. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi underscored the significance of the occasion, comparing it to UK prime minister Winston Churchill’s own address to the US Congress in December 1941.
