Republicans are pouncing on President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness program, launching an ad blitz intended to convince voters the plan is unfair to the working class.

The American Action Network, a conservative organization, will air ads nationwide for the next 10 days featuring actors who portray everyday workers talking about how they have worked extra shifts just to help others get out of debt. The ads will air during college football and MLB games over the next week and a half.

"Biden's right — you should take my tax dollars to pay off your debts. My family will figure out how to get by with less,” one of the characters posing as a landscaper says sarcastically in an ad. “What's most important is we spare college graduates from any extra stress."

Some 40 million people in the United States hold a collective $1.7 trillion in student loans. To be eligible for Biden's cancellation program, borrowers must earn under $125,000 individually or $250,000 as a household. Those who received Pell Grants can get up to $20,000 canceled.
