Police in Portland, Ore., and Seattle arrested more than a dozen people Wednesday after Inauguration Day protests led to the vandalizing of immigration offices and other buildings in both cities.
Protesters chanted anti-law-enforcement sentiments in a revival of last summer’s left-wing protests that broke out after the killing of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis. Much of their ire appeared aimed at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE.
In Seattle, protesters burned American flags on the street, and a group chanted “No cops! No prisons! Total abolition!,” according to a video verified by research firm Storyful, which is owned by News Corp , the parent company of The Wall Street Journal.
