Elon Musk’s ‘America Party’ proposal — could it work?

In the middle of an X venting session, Elon Musk called for the creation of a new third party, the “America Party.”

Weeks after criticizing President Donald Trump’s policy agenda during their first “breakup,” Musk returned to the argument opposing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, blasting congressmen who support it. Less than 24 hours later, the bill passed the Senate, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tiebreaking vote. Now, the bill returns to the House, and Republican lawmakers hope to meet Trump’s July 4 deadline. 

Musk said on X on Monday that he will create a new political party if the legislation passes.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” Musk wrote. “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”

During Musk and Trump’s first feud, he posted a poll on X asking his followers if it’s “time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle.”
