Google News Bias Over Time
Outlets on the left have increased by 12% since 2022 and outlets on the right decreased by 2% since 2022 (5% since 2023). The amount of Center outlets remained relatively constant.
Note that while the 2022–2025 analyses used the same methodologies, AllSides Media Bias Ratings change over time, which affect the comparison. Notably, The Guardian was curated 6% of the time in 2025. It was categorized as Lean Left in 2023 and shifted to Left in 2024, and is reflected as such in the bar charts above.
The Associated Press was similarly rated Lean Left in 2023 and shifted to Left in 2024 following AllSides Editorial Review. AllSides has also expanded its ratings, so some sources may have moved from Not Rated to Left, Lean Left, Center, Lean Right, or Right.
