Jews and Arabs Both Claim Genocide as Israel Attacks Hamas in Gaza

Summary from the AllSides News Team

Israel says its airstrikes in Gaza are justified retaliation for Hamas’ deadly terror attacks — labeled by some as a pogrom against Jews. Some Arab voices say it’s a pretext for genocide against Palestinians.

For Context: Israeli authorities said about 1,300 were killed in Hamas’ October 7 attacks; as of Saturday, the Palestinian health ministry said about 2,000 had been killed in Gaza. Nearly one million Palestinians were displaced after Israel warned them to evacuate northern Gaza. However, with Egypt unwilling to open its border to refugees, many Gazans have few options to escape.

‘They slaughtered entire families’: Two legal experts wrote in the New York Post (Opinion rated Right) that Israel’s siege of Gaza was “a well-known and lawful method of warfare.” Repeating reports that Hamas “decapitated babies in their cribs,” they argued Israel could not allow food, water, and fuel transfers into Gaza because Hamas could exploit them.

‘Go ahead, you craven enablers’: An Al Jazeera (Lean Left bias) writer framed Israel’s airstrikes in Gaza as a “dystopian-like horror” that fulfilled “Israel’s ‘end game’” to “pulverise every square inch of Gaza and its people.” He also referenced reports that Israel had used white phosphorous “to burn Palestinians to the bone.”

Israelis are still burying the 1,200 victims of the Saturday attack on southern Israel by Hamas, the Islamist terrorist group that seized power in Gaza in 2007.

As the assault unfolded, terrorists raped women and dragged them through the streets.

They decapitated babies in their cribs.

They slaughtered entire families in their homes.

Hundreds of civilians remain missing or held hostage in Gaza.

The sheer evil of Hamas’ deeds exceeds what can be conveyed in words.

Anything other than an end to Hamas’ rule will leave Israel’s and the world’s citizens unacceptably exposed to savage...

The Israeli military is once again dropping bombs on the besieged Gaza Strip. Over the weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which controls Gaza, after fighters from it and other groups carried out a massive assault in Israel that began Saturday morning. So far, at least 900 Israelis and more than 600 Palestinians have been killed; those numbers, particularly on the Palestinian side, are likely to climb significantly as the conflict continues.

Opinion

The cataclysm that you and I are witnessing in Gaza is a genocide in the awful making.

It is not an “onslaught”. It is not an “invasion”. It is not even a “war”. It is a genocide.

The apocalyptic scenes and sounds in Gaza are proof that a cruel, occupying army is intent on achieving its overarching aim: the annihilation of what remains of an already shattered slice of land and the indiscriminate killing of helpless, exhausted children, women and men.

Over decades, a succession of immune Israeli governments and...
