Republican Lawmakers Reveal New Info on Biden Bribery Allegation

Outlets are reporting additional information pertaining to the allegation President Biden accepted a bribe after members of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee viewed the FBI document detailing the claim. 

Details: According to statements made by Republican lawmakers that viewed the document, the unnamed informant alleges that between 2015 and 2016, then Vice-President Biden accepted a $5 million bribe from an executive at the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, served on the board from 2014 to 2019. It is alleged that in exchange for the money, Biden worked to oust Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who had been involved in an investigation into Burisma. 

Response: Biden and Democrats are dismissing and denying the allegation. During a press conference Thursday, Biden called the claims “malarkey.” Democrats are stating that Biden worked to oust Shokin because the Ukrainian prosecutor was not prosecuting corruption cases, and that Shokin was not actively investigating Burisma at the time of the allegation. Additionally, left-rated outlets are highlighting that the FBI document is an FD-1023, which can contain unverified information.

Some right-rated voices are linking this story with the announcement of the federal indictment against former President Trump, which is receiving more media attention. NBC News (Lean Left bias) reported that the allegation “wasn’t substantiated.” The Washington Times (Lean Right bias) reported the FBI informant is “trusted” and “highly credible.”
