President Biden Criticized for Not Acknowledging Seventh Grandchild

President Biden is facing criticism for failing to acknowledge his seventh grandchild, Navy Joan Roberts. 

For Context: Roberts, 4, is the daughter of Hunter Biden. According to the New York Times (Lean Left bias), White House aides have been told in “strategy meetings” that the president only has six grandchildren. 

Double Standard: An opinion piece in The New Republic (Left bias) argued there exists a double standard between expectations of Democratic lawmakers, who are “trying to uphold some standards and values” but “sometimes falls short,” and Republican lawmakers, who make “no effort along those lines” but are excused “because no one expects any better.” The piece compares coverage of Biden’s granddaughter with negative coverage of Biden’s economic policy, concluding that right-rated outlets “wouldn’t utter one positive syllable about Biden if the GDP grew by 10 percent while he simultaneously cured Alzheimer’s and brought democracy to North Korea.”

“Slick Politician”: A piece in the New York Post Opinion (Right bias) contrasted the public image of Biden as a family man with the revelation of the seventh, unrecognized grandchild. Calling Biden a “slick politician wrapped in the costume of a cute grandpa,” the article states that Biden is praised for standing by his son Hunter through numerous controversies while he “continues to publicly give the Heisman to an innocent toddler,” concluding, “The President can tout his ‘unconditional love’ all he wants, but his treatment of his youngest granddaughter will be the true legacy of Biden family values.”
