Biden Celebrates After Congress Passes $1.2T Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill

President Joe Biden on Saturday morning called Congress’ passage of his administration's $1.2 trillion infrastructure package a “monumental step forward for the nation.” After opening his remarks at the White House with a quip about “infrastructure week” finally arriving, Biden called the legislation a “once-in-a-generation investment in our people.” He doubled down on the bipartisan aspects of the bill and how it will ultimately serve as a “blue-collar blueprint to rebuilding America.” Biden also predicted that the bill will be viewed in 50 years as “when America decided to win the competition of the 21st century” against rising superpowers such as Russia and China.

Biden's speech was covered prominently across the spectrum. Some left-rated outlets highlighted how “White House officials blame Congress's inability to act sooner on Democrats' losses in Tuesday’s elections,” praising Biden for uniting progressive and moderate Democrats on the vote. Similarly, many right-rated outlets criticized the 13 “disgraceful House Republicans” for rescuing Biden's “flailing agenda.”
