WaPo: FBI Found Document on Foreign Power’s Nuclear Defenses at Mar-a-Lago

Records seized by the FBI at Mar-a-Lago included information on a foreign government’s nuclear defenses, The Washington Post (Lean Left bias) reported Tuesday evening. 

The Post cited “people familiar with the matter” who said the FBI found “a document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities.” Such documents would likely, but not necessarily, be covered under the highest security classifications. 

The report came one day after a judge approved former President Donald Trump’s request for a third-party special master to review the seized documents. The Washington Post previously reported that the FBI was searching for “classified documents relating to nuclear weapons” during the raid, also citing “people familiar with the investigation.”

While outlets across the spectrum picked up the story, many only covered it in video content. Some coverage in right-rated outlets cast doubt on the significance of the report; Fox News (Right bias) featured an interview with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) in which he suggested the DOJ was “strategically leaking” information to “influence the narrative.” Meanwhile, coverage from the left tended to reflect the Washington Post article's framing.
