Epstein Alleged that Trump Knew About His Conduct in Recently Released Emails

Summary from the AllSides News Team

Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released emails from Jeffrey Epstein that allege President Donald Trump was aware of Epstein’s conduct.

Exchanges With Maxwell: Epstein wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell in 2011, “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump.” He continued to write that one of his victims, whose name has been redacted, “spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.” Epstein also wrote to author Michael Wolff that he was “never a member ever” of Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Florida resort. Epstein also wrote, “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked to Ghislaine to stop.”

Commentary on Trump’s Presidency: In an exchange with Wolff in 2015, Wolff advised Epstein on what to do if interviewers asked Trump about their relationship. “I think you should let him hang himself,” Wolff wrote. “If he says he hasn't been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency. You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or…you could save him, generating a debt.”

How the Media Covered It: ABC News (Lean Left bias) emphasized in a headline that “House Democrats” released the emails but also noted that “Republicans on Wednesday claimed Democrats were selectively choosing documents to ‘generate click-bait’ and that they’re withholding other documents that name Democrat officials.” The Hill (Center) published the redacted emails. Daily Mail (Lean Right) reported that Trump said in July that Epstein had been banned from Mar-a-Lago around 2007 for poaching spa employees.
