Germany Puts New Restrictions on the Unvaccinated

Germany has announced new nationwide restrictions on unvaccinated people in response to rising COVID-19 cases, and vaccines could be made mandatory in the coming months.

Unvaccinated people will not be allowed in cinemas, restaurants, leisure facilities and many shops unless they have recovered from COVID-19 in the past six months. Patrons of those establishments must either have been vaccinated or fully recovered from the coronavirus. For large outdoor events, such as soccer matches and concerts, Germany will limit the number of people attending to 15,000. Outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel called the rules an act of "national solidarity" and voiced support for compulsory vaccinations. 

The news has been covered on all sides. Right-rated outlets have covered the news more prominently; many on the right highlighted protests of the rules and some on the right, as well as some across the spectrum such as BBC News, framed the restrictions as overbearing or far-reaching. One opinion article from National Review (Right bias) focused on how the new rules seem to equate natural immunity with vaccination, and criticized the U.S. for not adopting a similar stance.
