Biden Admin to Send 1M Vaccine Doses to Retail Pharmacies Next Week

The federal government will begin shipping COVID-19 vaccines directly to retail pharmacies across the country next week. The initial rollout will send 1 million doses to 6,500 pharmacies, which will typically be located away from current vaccination sites and geared toward "socially vulnerable" populations; the plan is to eventually send more than 11 million doses to 40,000 pharmacies. The news comes as the number of Americans who've received at least one shot of a coronavirus vaccine has passed the total number of Americans who've tested positive for the virus at any point. Pfizer reportedly plans to distribute 200 million more vaccine doses by May; however, concerns are surfacing about how current vaccines will work against new and emerging coronavirus strains.
