First Lawsuits Filed After Travis Scott Concert Leaves 8 Dead

Rapper Travis Scott and organizers of the Astroworld Music Festival are facing a series of lawsuits after a deadly crowd incident on Friday killed eight people and injured hundreds. As of Monday, at least 14 lawsuits have been filed against Scott as well as festival organizers Live Nation Entertainment and ScoreMore in Harris County District Court, claiming they "failed to provide a safe environment." An estimated 50,000 people were in the crowd before fans reportedly started to stampede towards the front of the stage. Investigators are reportedly going to examine the type of barriers and crowd control measures implemented by security during the concert. The Houston Chronicle quoted legal experts who estimate the liabilities from the tragic event could reach "into the hundreds of millions of dollars, with many more suits filed in the coming days." Additionally, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner revealed that he warned Scott and the rapper's head of security about his "concerns regarding public safety" before the concert began on Friday night. Scott's management team announced Monday that the rapper would cover victims' funeral costs.

The tragic Astroworld concert has been prominently covered across the spectrum, especially by outlets that focus on entertainment news.
